Mission Statement

The Mehlville School District mission is to build a high performing school system rooted in the community's desire to build a culture of improvement for staff and students.

About the District

Located in south St. Louis County, the Mehlville School District encompasses all or part of the unincorporated communities of Mehlville, Oakville, Concord and Lemay. Through its dedication to providing institutional excellence, fiscal responsibility and community benefit, this fully accredited district serves the educational needs of more than 10,000 children in a community of more than 90,000 residents within a 44-square-mile area.

The Mehlville School District Administration Building is located on the campus of Mehlville High School and is open on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The mailing address for our central office is 3120 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. Portrait of a Graduate

Mehlville School District believes that all of our graduates should be creative and critical thinkers, self-aware, persistent, communicators, and ethical and global. We call this our Portrait of a Graduate. The Portrait of a Graduate guides our work with students from preschool through graduation. 

Points of Pride

  • Oakville Middle band studentsMehlville School District has nationally recognized high schools. Mehlville and Oakville high were named “best high schools” by U.S. News & World Report. Both schools are also ranked in the top 10 percent of high schools in Missouri by Niche.com

  • Our Early Childhood Center received the FutureBuilders Early Childhood Program of the Year award from the Missouri School Boards’ Association.

  • We are a National District of Character, and many of our schools are also recognized as National Schools of Character.

  • Assistant principal of Bernard Middle School, Lauren Cumming, was awarded the Missouri Assistant Principal of the Year from the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals.

  • The Mehlville Board of Education received the 2018 Governance Team Award by the Missouri School Boards’ Association.

  • Dr. Chris Gaines, superintendent, is a national advocate for students and schools, serving in 2018-2019 as the national president of AASA, the School Superintendents Association.

  • District curriculum is focused on personalized learning as showcased through MyPath, a high school course that students design around their own interests; participation in Project Lead The Way and the St. Louis Centers for Advanced Professional Studies; project-based learning; STEM education; and MOSAIC Elementary, a school of innovation.
