New OES propertyMehlville School District has acquired property next to Oakville Elementary School that will be used to alleviate parking concerns in the future. Currently, the overcrowded parking lot presents safety challenges for students and staff during arrival, dismissal and special events.

“Surveys we’ve done over the past few years indicate that parking is a big need at Oakville Elementary,” said Dr. Chris Gaines, Mehlville School District Superintendent. While the district won’t make any big changes to the property during the 2020-2021 school year, the space will be used to expand parking and improve safety in the future, he said.

The district purchased the property at 2941 Yaeger Road on May 5, 2020, for $290,000. The property is west of and adjacent to Oakville Elementary School.
