Winter/Spring 2019 Classes

Community Enrichment is offering a variety of classes this Winter/Spring. See below for class information. Click on the class name to be taken to the full description and registration page.

Abra-Kid-Abra (Grades 1-5) Learn magic while developing presentation skills and confidence! Class culminates with the magicians putting on a family show. Tricks are all new from the last several years. $75 Click here Art Time(Grades 1-6) Students will create a variety of paintings and drawings with supplies you most likely have at home. $30 Click here Bricks 4 Kidz (Grades K-5) A hands-on class where students build machines, vehicles, and other structures out of motorized, LEGO bricks. Students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills while exploring principles of engineering, physics, life sciences, and more.  All projects are brand new!  $89 Click Here Cheer (Grades K-5) This class will focus on the basic fundamentals of cheerleading, such as motion technique, jumps, cheer dance, stunt technique and basic tumbling. $60 Click here Chess (Grades K-12) Students will develop patience, good sportsmanship, perseverance, and critical thinking skills while learning the game of chess. $125 Click here  

Little Dental School(Grades K-5) Kids will learn about cool dental procedures and the importance of health to children in an entertaining, exciting and fun way. Enjoy coloring parts of the tooth like enamel, dentin, pulp, and gums. Students will prepare and fill a tooth cavity. Each child receives a diploma, disposable lab coat, toothbrush cover, tooth cooker cutter and so much more. $95 Click here Little Wilderness(Grades K-5) Kids will learn about some of the dangers in the wild and how to safely handle a medical situation. Each child receives a diploma, disposable lab coat, LMS bandana, thermal blanket and so much more. $95 Click here

Mad Science (Grades K-5) Have fun with physics and Mad Science! Fly through flight and discover the four forces that affect flight. Make and test plane designs to see these forces in action. Act like junior architects and engineers! Test out shapes for strength and build a bridge. Create a whirlwind with a vortex generator. Make liquids turn into solids and watch objects disappear as you uncover the science of magic. Feel the pull of precession with the bike wheel gyroscope and strike the perfect balance with the Gravity Game kit. Investigate conductors, insulators, and other elements in the world of circuit electricity. $98 Click here

Spanish (Grades K-5) Learn practical vocabulary, correct pronunciation and basic sentence structure necessary to understand and use the Spanish language. $30 Click here

CLASSES FOR ADULTS Swimnastics (Ages 18 & up) Water Aerobics that are held in the shallow end of the swimming pool which allows you to get a great workout without putting stress on the joints. Classes are held every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The fall session will begin on August 21 and August 23. The fee is 1 day/week:  $40 ($25 for 60plus); 2 days/week: $50 ($35 for 60plus). Participants may sign up for class 1 day/ week (Monday or Wednesday) or for 2 days/week (Monday & Wednesday) Click here

Women's Self Defense Class (Ages 16 &up) is a 2 session class open to women 16 years and older covering elements for effective defensive actions, including the importance of the starting conditions and physical tactics such as striking. Learn simple and effective strategies developed from research & professional experience. The classes are hands-on and allow some training in real world scenario’s. Participants can opt-out of the hands on components if they do not feel comfortable. $40 Click here Zumba (Ages 18 & up) This class burns major calories and activates muscle groups by  incorporating simple Latin rhythms that can be easily modified for all physical types. $40 Click here DRIVER’S EDUCATION

There will be four sessions of driver’s education offered this fall for students ages 15 and up. Classes run Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in room 102 of the Witzel Learning Center (located on the MHS campus.) Students will be required to drive with instructors before class and on some weekends.  The sessions are as follows:

Coached Lap Swim (All ages with tryout) This class will instruct swimmers in stroke development/improvement Session 2 Tryouts will be held on........The 18 strongest swimmers will be invited to enroll in the class. $125 Click here

Recreational Swim Swimming Pool hours are Monday through Friday 6 to 7 a.m. (lap swim only): Sunday through Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday and Friday 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; Saturday 2 to 4:30 p.m. Fee:  $3 for students and 60plus members, $4 for adults, $6 per family.  Employees swim free with their district id badge. Please see the pool supervisor for membership information.  Click here Saturday Morning Swim Lessons (Ages 3 & up) There will be two 7-week sessions offered. Classes run for 50 minutes every Saturday. Advanced Swim is held at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Learn to Swim Lessons are held at 8, 9, 10, 11 a.m. and 12 and 1 p.m. The fee is 7 weeks:  $40 ($50 for non-residents); 14 weeks:  $75 ($90 for non-residents).
