Fall 2017 Classes

Community Enrichment is offering a variety of classes this Fall. See below for class information. Click on the class name to be taken to the full description and registration page. 


Abra-Kid-Abra (Grades 1-5) Learn magic while developing presentation skills and confidence! Class culminates with the magicians putting on a family show. Tricks are all new from the last several years. $75 Art Time (Grades 1-6) Students will create a variety of paintings and drawings with supplies you most likely have at home. $30 Bricks 4 Kidz (Grades K-5) A hands-on class where students build machines, vehicles, and other structures out of motorized, LEGO bricks. Students will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills while exploring principles of engineering, physics, life sciences, and more.  All projects are brand new!  $95 Chess (Grades K-12) Students will develop patience, good sportsmanship, perseverance, and critical thinking skills while learning the game of chess.  $125

Junior Thespians-Acting (Grades 6-9) Students will be a part of the International Thespian Society, an Honor Society for Middle and High School Students interested in Theatre Arts. Students will be introduced to the world of acting through various exercises, monologues, and improvisation games. This class will focus on character development, vocal and physical expression, and building theatrical relationships. Students will produce a One-Act for public performance at the end of the course. $50 Little Medical School (Grades K-5) Kids will discover how the body and organs work, how to use medical instruments, administer first aid and even tie knots like a real surgeon. $95 Little Veterinarian (Grades K-5) Using interactive demonstrations, crafts and games, kids learn how to take care of a pet and use instruments that real veterinarians use. $95 Mad Science (Grades K-5) Investigate all about bugs and how they help our environment.; discover how forensic science plays a role in solving crimes; discover why science is the real star on the big screen; build your own UV detector; and discover the science behind your favorite toys! $93 Spanish (Grades K-5) Learn practical vocabulary, correct pronunciation and basic sentence structure necessary to understand and use the Spanish language. $30

Tennis (Grades 3-12)  Join us to learn the game of tennis.  $60

CLASSES FOR ADULTS Intro to Whitewater Kayaking (Ages 18 & up) Begin building fundamental skills indoors, in a warm pool.  $120

Learning to Roll a Kayak  (Ages 18 & up) Receive help practicing, learning, and refining your roll so it is bomb-proof on the river. $40 Swimnastics(Ages 18 & up) Water Aerobics that are held in the shallow end of the swimming pool which allows you to get a great workout without putting stress on the joints. Classes are held every Monday and Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The fall session will begin on August 21 and August 23. The fee is 1 day/week:  $40 ($25 for 60plus); 2 days/week: $50 ($35 for 60plus). Participants may sign up for class 1 day/ week (Monday or Wednesday) or for 2 days/week (Monday & Wednesday) Yoga (Ages 18 & up) Come create a mind-body connection through Yoga while practicing basic poses, breathing for relaxation, and learning about other tension releasing techniques. $65 Zumba (Ages 18 & up) This class burns major calories and activates muscle groups by  incorporating simple Latin rhythms that can be easily modified for all physical types.  $40. DRIVER’S EDUCATION

There will be four sessions of driver’s education offered this fall for students ages 15 and up. Classes run Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in room 102 of the Witzel Learning Center (located on the MHS campus.) Students will be required to drive with instructors before class and on some weekends.  The sessions are as follows:

Session 1:  8/21/17-9/11/17  

Session 2:  9/18/17-10/5/17

Session 3:  10/16/17 to 11/6/17

Session 4:  11/27/17 to 12/14/17

The fee for Driver’s Education is $200 for district residents, $225 for non-residents.


C.E. Water Polo (Ages 14 & up) This clinic will cover: water polo fundamentals; Offensive strategy; defensive strategy; and rules. This will be a drill based clinic with competitive scrimmages used to reinforce all drills and concepts. $10 Coached Lap Swim (All ages with tryout) This class will instruct swimmers in stroke development/improvement Session 1 Tryouts will be held on August 15 at 6 p.m. The 18 strongest swimmers will be invited to enroll in the class. $125 Recreational Swim Swimming Pool hours are Monday through Friday 6 to 7 a.m. (lap swim only): Sunday through Friday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Tuesday and Friday 7:30 to 9:3.0 p.m.; Saturday 2 to 4:30 p.m. Fee:  $3 for students and 60plus members, $4 for adults, $6 per family.  Employees swim free with their district id badge. Please see the pool supervisor for membership information.   Saturday Morning Swim Lessons (Ages 3 & up) There will be two 7-week sessions offered (first half:  8/19-10/14/17; second half:  10/21-12/9/17) Classes run for 50 minutes every Saturday. Advanced Swim is held at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Learn to Swim Lessons are held at 8, 9, 10, 11 a.m. and 12 and 1 p.m. The fee is 7 weeks:  $40 ($50 for non-residents); 14 weeks:  $75 ($90 for non-residents).
